Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information fern Studio collects and how we use it, under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

1. Responsible party

fern Studio is a trading name of Johannes Brink, sole proprietor, George, Western Cape, who is the responsible party and information officer for POPIA purposes. Contact hello@fernstudio.co.za.

2. What this site collects

This site does not use cookies, analytics or trackers, and has no forms. Vercel, our hosting provider, keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security, in the ordinary course of running the site.

3. When you email or WhatsApp us

If you contact us, we keep your message and contact details so we can reply. If you become a client, we keep your contact and billing details to run the service and stay in touch about it.

4. Outreach

Under POPIA section 69, we may contact a business once, using details it publishes — a website, Google Business Profile, and so on — to ask whether it would like to hear from us. If you reply "no", we stop at once and keep only a note that you've opted out, so we never contact you again.

5. Sharing your information

We share information with Vercel (hosting), WhatsApp (Meta, for messages you send us there), our email provider, the code-hosting and AI tools we use to run the studio, and, once we choose one, a payment processor. Several of these — including Vercel and WhatsApp — are based outside South Africa, which is a cross-border transfer under POPIA section 72. We don't sell your information to anyone.

6. Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct or delete your information, or object to how we use it, at any time — email hello@fernstudio.co.za. If you're not satisfied with how we've handled a concern, you can complain to the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za).
